Background

Considered an exceptional wizard at a young age, he was always playing with magics that he though were useful. At the age of ten he discovered that he had some ability with unusual types of magic. The discovery almost killed several people. The discovery was necromancy. A dark forbidden art that involved the reanimation of the dead. Although his discovery was accidental Azareth was confined to a tower for the next six years until he finally had stopped playing with his magics.

By the time his confinement ended, however, he had delved deeply into spirit magics and water magics since these things seemed more readily available to him. As an adept geomancer before his confinement he started to use his earth magics as soon as he could. The town he grew up in was helpless to his playing, so finally they exiled him. They only gave him a broadsword, a bag with some food, a bit of gold, and whatever he was wearing and sent him away.

Azareth wandered the land practicing all of his magics for five years. During this time he learned how to use a blade. One of his first battles against a group of bandits cost him his shirt and resulted in the many scars on his body.

One day he was discovered by another wandering mage. This man claimed to know a lot about the magics of the world and where he could learn to use his skills more appropriately. He was brought to a small building in the middle of nowhere. It was apparently a training ground for untested mages.

It was here he trained for another five years under the strict guidelines of a couple of superior wizards. During this time his skills and control sharpened and he seemed to have developed a crude sense of honor.

The Four Elements
"This is a world full of adventure. People know magic exists and those who use it generally control one of Four Elements. Fire, Water, Earth and Air. There are many other forms of magic, such as darkness and light, but they aren't nearly as common. A long time ago there were ancient empires where some of these other magics were known. Perhaps someone is trying to resurrect these magics. Maybe they are trying to flee rebellion, or conquer new lands. The heroes of today could even be a mercenary for hire. That is yet to be seen."
