Duren trained in swordsmanship from a young age. His determination to become a knight led him to a great paladin by the name of Quarren Sveil. This man was rumored to be a great swordsman, and as he was already a champion in service to the crown of Arcene. Duren knew this man's teachings would be his fate. Taking his father's old sword, 'Moonlight', and using his unrefined skills to best Quarren's squires, Duren was taken on as a student.

For several long, trying, and painful years, Duren trained with a longsword, and eventually two of them. When he finally earned knighthood it was a dream come true for him. At first it was simple patrolling and guard duty. Poor work for a man who wanted to be a great knight, but he eventually became a squad leader around the age of 22.

It was around this time, Arcene went to war. For two long years, he fought on almost every battlefield. His red hair, fighting prowess, and indomitable spirit earned him the title 'The Flame of War'.

After the war, Duren was made an under-captain in the knights, promoted straight over squad marshal. In recognition for his work he was given a new sword that he named 'Swallowtail'. Recently, he was promoted to captain and has begun his duties as a city patrol leader in the capital Escea, since there is no war to fight.
