BackgroundCarmine was the child of a pair of mercenaries. They were the leader and his wife of the Grim Vipers Mercenary Gang. He grew up on the battlefield and was given his first sword at the age of six. As he grew older, he got better with the blade, and was learning as many tricks as he could.
By the age of thirteen, Carmine went on his first mission. His mother, a fierce swordsman herself, was killed. The gang won against overwhelming odds, but a couple of others were lost as well.
At fifteen, he was given his adamantine katana. It was a bit long, but he would grow into it. He went from battle to battle causing havoc in the name of the Grim Vipers.
At eighteen, there were a series of events that made him who he is. The first was the finding of Blaze. One winter, the red horse had wandered near their headquarters, and so the mercenaries took it. Out of everyone though, only Carmine could tame it. Next was what happened that summer. On the battlefield, Carmine took an arrow in the eye. The archer was killed by his father, but his eye couldn't be saved. It was removed, and Carmine donned an eye patch, refusing a magical one. He decided to improve, and so had the money spent on a wooden blade that could conceal his katana and serve as a blade itself. Considering the metal was adamantine, to make the wood suitable, many protective enchantments were placed on it. Thus began Carmine's quest to improve.
Two years later, Carmine received Blaze as a gift for reaching adulthood. It also didn't hurt he was still the only one to tame the wild horse.
At twenty one, Carmine finally got a magical eye implanted. It was red. Thus began the start of the Red Demon. He removed his eye patch, drew his blade and charged onto the battlefield. The red horse, red hair, and red eye with the nigh unbreakable blades turned him into a machine of war. Slowly he began to lose himself in fights. Violence beget more violence from him. After a series of battles like this, the Grim Vipers began calling him their Red Demon.
After that, he began to realize, though he was respected, he wasn't improving. His superiors still beat him in battle. He was still the kid they grew up with. In order to improve he decided he had to set off on his own. He'd been saving his pay for a while now. He was going to start his own mercenary gang.
