Additional Information FANTYN

What is Fantyn – Fantyn is a darker form of magic based upon the natural selection to the body’s core of the elements. Some persons choose to stay in the basics of every category, being naturally stronger in the one which dominates their core, or strengthening all aspects in their dominant element. Others choose to go into second branches or even further, into sub-categories of the second branches in which to dominate their training. This can either be a positive or a negative thing for some persons. For some, they will end up limited and will not be able to grow very strong. For others, it will only help increase their strength and overall capabilities, not only in the specific category, but in all other general elements. For the defensive side of Fantyn, it varies for both males and females. Males tend to use staffs, scepters, or even rings or jewels to channel their defensive magic through; while females tend to use creatures of a scavenger sort for their personal protection. The male’s energy in defense is too aggressive to coincide with another living creature, while the female’s is too submissive, making it difficult to work through solid mediums such as scepters. The female’s energy is drained too quickly this way, therefore the use of animals such as rats, mice, snakes, large spiders, birds of prey or scavenging, reptiles, or even cats or foxes, is much more compatible to their defensive waves. In older times, Fantyn was, in many realms, a forbidden art. It was viewed as evil sorcery. But dark magic, as we’ve come to understand throughout the centuries, does not necessarily mean evil magic. There is a lighter side to Fantyn magic as well, just not as commonly practiced or used, being it’s much harder to train in than the other. Nor are there many books or spell books on this particular magic. Due to the near annihilation of it during the past, and of the people who practiced it, Fantyn has become more and more a mystery, with less and less people knowing about, choosing to train in it.
Quotes "A little pain never hurt anyone."

Background

The land is ripe with stories. Minstrels and bards are highly sought after, and the tales of heroes are widespread and well known. One such hero isn't really a hero at all however. It seems she doesn't even know she is one yet. No minstrel plays her tune. No bard utters her name. Yet her story is already in the making. It goes a little something like this...

Many suns and moons ago there lived a young girl in a mountainside village. Her village resided in the lands of Lortaria, and these lands were acursed by a current resident of demonic origins. His name was Kerr De', and this underworld Lord had been living in the fortress on the mountain for many generations. Having yet to be seen, myth amassed his visage in the minds of the Lortarian people, including that of the young girl. Myth did not prepare her for what would happen one winter morning, though. Lord Kerr, appearing before her in demon form, snatched her from the snow laden path from whence she walked. She was never seen or heard of by the village or her family again.

One century later the form of a young woman appeared in the snow laden path. Her breath hit the icy air in a frantic state, and then she was running... no, flying. The villagers that saw her form rise from the trees thought she was the demon from the mountain. Yet they never beheld this sight again.

Our someday hero traveled far from those lands, and far from her demonic persuer. No longer was she human, nor did she remember her human past. She simply knew him, and that she did not wish to fulfill his bidding. So, having come to a new continent, the young woman who called herself Jupiter took up residence among the superstitious peoples and began a new life.

In this new life Jupiter operated a tavern and shoppe. She also took on the role of a mercenary. This eventually found her in serious troubles. In retaliantion for one of the deaths she caused Jupiter was captured and sold into slavery to pay for her actions. At market the dumassian General S.S. Granite purchased her and took her far away to another realm of lands.

In these lands known as Canteon Jupiter found herself to be eventually equalized with the inhabitants, and given work as a mercenary alongside Steve her former master. Years passed as she befriended those she worked with and came to love the man who had originally bought her. After a great war in his homelands they married, and soon a daughter was born.

After Jenisis' birth, Lord Kerr found and recaptured Jupiter. A rescue attempt by her husband and comrades eventually saw her free of the demon once more, but now she feels altered and somehow she knows Kerr will come again when the time is right. Jupiter now understands the fate of civilizations lay in her ability to resist this evil being, or destroy him. But she is no hero.... or is she?

"Ever come home and discover that your home had been turned into a potato... an asteroid potato. That is as big as a flake of dust in space, surrounded by a humungous uber-galaxy. Well in case the answer is no... don't try it! It's not alot of fun... because that potato is hundreds of light years in size... and mutated couch monsters are scary! Really SCARY!!! Welcome to the reality or realm known as Canteon. Home to the Underground Library & Tavern... where brownies build mechs, mages contemplate boiling their eyes, and a society of Telorians are attempting to keep the gods out of their buisness. Only well they keep turning into gods themselves. "

Shevard Slane
"Shevard Slane is a hardy, middle-sized town upon the Wistren continent of Brapel. The northern regions of this already cold and very stormy planet require a tougher kind of folk like those one will find here. Superstitions, and stories of rumors, are what keep the good people of Shevard Slane entertained for 8 months of winter every year. Most of the roads are still dirt, though cobblestone would be easily obtained. However stone covered in ice is much more hazardous than earth, thus the town looks more rustic than it truly is. From the baker’s to the weapon’s store, you’ll soon find this to be a very up to date place. Once a rare short spring hits every year, there is a massive festival that takes up the entire town, and most on the ‘Leftmost' continent and even some from the others travel just to see it. A word of caution however… This area is not just boring snow and a large extravaganza once a year. Surprisingly for a town of people so accustomed to throwing an all continent fair, you’ll find much fear and doubt towards everything form the ordinary the rest of the year. It’s as if once the festival is over… it’s back to another 11 months of disbelief to anything even slightly strange. Stranger still, most travelers don’t find their way into Shevard Slane, unless they are ordinary humans. If anything, they find their way to the Black Pearl Tavern & Shoppe, which is just a one hour north westerly ride from the town. Even further to the North West, another two hours or so, if one is lucky enough, they will stumble upon Shadder Flaurn. A small little community of witches huddled away in the woods against the mountains. Within just this tiny pocket of the world, there is already much to explore and discover. Who knows what the rest of Brapel may have in store for you and your companions!"
