I slipped off his pack from my shoulder and tossed the silvery vial towards him.

Dryn caught the vile with trembling hands.
Just as he was removing the stopper an unnatural color seemed to be creeping into Dryns skin and eyes.

A bone cracking sound echoed as the back of Dryns armor tore apart to reveal two ashen wings sprouting from his shoulders.

With the last of his fading strength, Dryn downed the potion.

An unearthly shriek escaped Dryns mouth and the wings that had appeared stretching with the wingspan of a small dragon curled again and disappeared.

Dryn looked at Uthar, smiled and collapsed.

I blinked several times in confusion before kneeling down and placing two fingers upon his neck, I awaited the beat of his pulse. He was still alive. I placed down the packs and began to carefully lift up his body upon my shoulder. Bending my knees cautiously, as not to fall I picked up the packs by their straps and threw them both across my empty shoulder. Until my body got used to the percarious weight I stumbled greatly for a while. I walked a little way before stopping and placing him on a patch of soft grass. I too rested, with my back against the bark of a tree and elbow resting upon my knee. I fetched a tome from my back and picked off from where I had left off from. Without Dryn's help I was currently lost knowing only names of towns and places.

As the first beams of dawn filled the sky, Dryn instinctively jumped to his feet with daggers in hand.

Dryn paused and noticed Uthar looking at him. Sheathing his weapons Dryn shook his head. “You can add “cursed” to the list.”

I stifled a yawn, looking upon him with bleary eyes.

"An interesting hobby to be sure. I didn't know where to go so I just planted you down and kept watch and far too lazy to carry you to next town."

I stumbled to my feet and handed him a pack, slinging the other over my shoulder. My voice ached and my vision was impaired for fatigue.

"Care to explain what that was? So far everyone in this land is in possession of strange magics."

Dryn shouldered the pack, feeling the broken bindings in his armor he sighed. "It happened when i was just a boy, it keeps getting stronger."
Looking at Uthar, Dryn smiled sadly. "Everyday it gets worse."

"What happens when it gets out?"

Dryn stared off into the sunrise. "The one time It did get out, It was as if I saw everything through a stained window, I couldn't control my actions."

Dryn felt the tear in his armor. "I destroyed everything. Ever since then I set out on my own to find a way to stop It for ever getting control again."

Pulling a silver colored potion from his pack Dryn held it out to Uthar. "Until I came across this, It suppresses the entity inside me for a day. For one day I can be myself without having to worry about It."

"I suppose hiding the vial as a prank wouldnt be too funny then?"

"Only if your willing to accept the danger that goes with it."
Dryn glared hard at Uthar, almost daring him to try it.

I chuckled.

"I may not have wings and a vial but I have my own tricks in my possession."

"That may be true, but i will cease to be myself."

Taking a quick look at his surroundings, Dryn started walking. "We should be close to a hamlet, just through here."

I walked alongside him.

"Do not worry; I am not so heartless as to preform such a prank."

My senses had grown sharper now I was moving again but I still needed some very vital sleep when we got the chance.

"I know you are tired friend, its not much further till you may rest."

"I am grateful. This hamlet, what can we expect?"
