Mark sighed. "That's the thing though... none of my brothers had troubles with their marriage. They all have successful rich lives with five children, or more. She can't stop judging me for not wanting a family, or...." he sighed. "It's my life, I'm too old to be lectured thank you very much." He smirked. "So if your mother so happened to come off her high, as you had said, they would have plenty to talk about I'm sure." He folded his hands.

Kara smiled a little and nodded, falling quiet as the waitress brought over their drinks. She took a sip of hers before softly asking, "So you don't want a family?"

Mark swigged his beer and looked away. "Its not that I don't like kids." He told her. "Just...don't....think I'd make a good father." He shrugged, looking down.

Kara frowned a little. "Why would you say that?" she asked curiously.

Mark looked up and shrugged. "Does it matter now? I'm forty years old." He smirked a bit. "Not like I can start one..." He sighed and sipped his beer.

Kara frowned a bit. "That's not true," she said. "There's guys at sixty still having kids."

Mark glanced up and winced. He swallowed a bit and shrugged. "I guess." He said slowly. "I don't know Kara." He looked to her. "Just never wanted to have kids. All my brothers just said there was nothing better, nothing better, if you do one thing have a kid..."

Kara frowned a little, watching him, but she slowly nodded. "Okay," she said softly. "So you just... don't want a family like that."

Mark looked to her and nodded. "Guess I haven't seen a lot of families besides...massive ones with screaming children running wild." He whispered.

Kara laughed a little at that and nodded a bit, taking another sip of her drink. But she was really deterred all of a sudden. "Makes sense," she said quietly.

Mark looked to her. "Sorry." He said softly. "For being so...strong about that." He rubbed his forehead. "I guess...my ex wife got tired of waiting. Lost...a lot over that topic." he whispered, but it turned into a frown. "And this conversation was supposed to be about you." He gestured. "Just a sore subject..."

Kara smiled a little and shook her head. "It's fine," she said quietly. She took another sip of her drink.

Mark twisted his mouth and studied her. "I take it you want kids?" He asked softly.

Kara studied him for a moment, then glanced down to her martini glass. "Well," she said quietly. "I dunno about... another kid... Maybe someday... If I find the right man..."
She took another sip of her drink to hide her sinking expression. If he hated the idea of kids so much he would definitely be done with her when he found out she was a mom... She half expected him to bolt right then and there...

Mark frowned. "Another?" He asked softly.
