Far Better To Die by Augustus Rashoden Augustus moved along a line with others to the slavery. This wasn't exactly how he imagined coming down to the lowlands would play out. Iron chains cuffed his wrists and ankles, and he walked with the other frail creatures. The guards kept a close eye on him as he had managed to break free before. Twice, actually. He was shuffled and finally unlinked from the group and shoved into a large metal bird cage. But he barely fit. His bare shoulders brushed against the bars, and he couldn't even sit. But he would sooner die then become a slave, and that was what he planned to do. There was little point in continuing anyway. He couldn't go back home, and there was no where else to go. So he planned to slowly starve. Although that was going to be a problem. Slowly was an understatement. Augustus was large and thick. He had over a hundred pounds of muscle alone, and another seventy or so of fat. Where he lived his people grew large and tall. Hefty and robust. His clan lived in the coldest weather imaginable. So cold that many of their children died if they weren't wrapped up and warm within thirty seconds. And that was in the summer months. No babies survived winter. Augustus had been lucky, then...but that luck didn't seem to last. With all that extra warming insulation, Augustus would sooner die of heat stroke then starvation and dehydration. His body was meant to store water and food, while the other ten percent digested. That meant to get forty percent of food in him a day...he ate a lot. But he was tossed a bread crust only. These lowlanders had no idea how to take care of him, and they expected him to work? Foolish. Still. It was settled. Augustus wouldn't budge. He wouldn't ask for help. He wouldn't eat or drink. It was far better to die. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Camille Grove on Mon, 7 June 2010 11:27On a hill overlooking the slave camp, hiding in the brush at the top, Camille lay flat on her stomach and over looked what was below them. "Oh you're kidding me...." She whispered and then motioned for her friend to come up as well. Once the two women were laying besides each other she looked over to Taryn and smirked. "Feel like doing some good today?" She asked and then looked back. "You could easily take out those guards over there." She pointed. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Taryn Hawkeye Taryn smirked and nodded. "Can do," she murmured. "Those, and I bet I beat you to the others." She grinned at Cami. "Ready?" She stood before her companion could answer, and rapidly set off two arrows, one immeditately after the first had left its place. The half elf's aim was deadly and accurate, hitting the far away guards easily, one arrow through a throat, the other through a temple. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Augustus Rashoden Augustus raised an eyebrow as the guards by him fell. There were shouts and unorganized panic as the guards ran around confused. "Bandits!" they yelled. Augustus saw where the shots had originated from in an instant. Up on the hill in front of him. He snorted as the guards were up in arms and frenzy. It was common sense to him. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Camille Grove on Mon, 7 June 2010 11:48Cami smirked and stood up. "Cheat." She said to her friend, teasing. The fighter took out her longsword and rand swiftly down the hill, cutting down the few guards who had tried to get up it. Soon she was in the midst of a large crowd of them, but it wasn't hard for her. Slashing and stabbing, twirling around and hitting what she meant to Cami was a deadly wielder of her sword and it was an unfortunate fate that met those at the other end of it. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Taryn Hawkeye Taryn stayed up on the hill, keeping an eye on her companion. She'd pick off any guard that got close to her, and that Cami wasn't noticing fast enough for the half elf's comfort. She slowly started moving closer, as the number of guards dwindled, and circled around the back, making sure they'd gotten all of them. As soon as the guards were all finished off, Taryn slipped her bow over her shoulder, drawing out a dagger and hacking the slaves free of their chains. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Augustus Rashoden Augustus watched the two with mild interest. He truely hoped they wouldn't attempt to set him free. He was started to enjoy his small cage. Augustus rolled his eyes at that thought. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Camille Grove on Mon, 7 June 2010 12:03Cami wiped the blood off her sword and then went around the opposite way of Tayn, setting free those slalves. "By the way!" She called over to her with a smirk. "Sixteen!" She yelled to her as she cut lose the chains on Augustus's cage, not paying too much attention to who was inside. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Taryn Hawkeye Taryn snorted. "Eighteen," she countered. "Catch up, fighter." She straightened, tossing the loose chain to the slaves and letting them get out for themselves. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Augustus Rashoden Augustus stayed in that cage despite the fact the door swung open. His wrists and ankles were still cuffed, so he reasoned there was no difference between being cuffed in the cage, or being cuffed out there. He watched the two and managed a yawn. He found it funny how the lowlanders liked to gloat so. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Camille Grove on Mon, 7 June 2010 12:14Cami glared. "Oh you're kidding me! Alright, but in my defense it's a lot harder and takes up a lot more time to dodge then to just fire arrows." She teased and then walked into the cage. "Here." She said, hacking off his wrists and feet chains. "It's so easy being a ranger. All you have to do is fire dinky little arrows." She shook her head, mumbling. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Taryn Hawkeye Taryn snorted. "I'd like to see you try," she said quietly back to her friend. "You might be able to hit the long side of a barn. Maybe." |

RE: Far Better To Die by Augustus Rashoden Augustus growled and grabbed Camilie's shouted, giving her a solid push. His push sent her to the ground easily, and she was lucky he didn't squeeze a little harder or he would have broken her collar bone. He stood there in his cage, staring at her unmoving for a moment before stepping out. |

RE: Far Better To Die by Camille Grove on Mon, 7 June 2010 12:23"Whoa!" Cami said, looking behind her as he walked away. "Alright..... Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we just save you from a life of slavery? A life of being miserable?!" She glared as she stood up and looked over to Taryn. "Is that some sort of thank you? Pushing someone around?" |

RE: Far Better To Die by Taryn Hawkeye Taryn held up her hands, a submissive gesture. "Easy Cami," she said softly. "Just breathe." She walked a little closer to the man they had just freed. "Now take it easy friend," she said, her voice still soft and calm, as she addressed the man. "We meant no harm..." |
