Brin shook her head and scooted closer to him. "You want to be my friend?" she asked, her eyes still wide.

Ally nodded and slipped out to the sitting room, although she stood in the entry way, watching them on the couch in silence. At least they were both cute. And quiet.

Teo smiled and nodded. "Yeah." he agreed with a grin. He scratched his nose and looked to Ally in the doorway, instantly shutting up.

Brin searched his face a moment more before turning her attention to Ally too, spinning on the couch slightly. "Where are we?" she asked, still chewing on a strand of her hair.
Ally smiled a bit. "In an old house at the top of the hill right outside of town," she answered, very literally.
"Is this your home?"
Ally nodded, looking at it for a moment.
"I never had a home before..."
Ally smiled a bit at that and looked to her. "Well if you want, you too, little Blue, this can be your home too."

Teo's eyes went wide and he looked up at Ally blankly. He didn't seem to want to talk around adults too much. He looked to Brin, seeing if she would agree to that or not.

Rei poked his head out. "Ally when you have a moment can I talk to you?" He smiled at the kids and then nodded to her.

Brin looked up at them and nodded quickly, although the new, older boy looked funny.
Ally smiled a bit, and nodded back to Rei, walking away with him.
"He's a kitty!" Brin exclaimed in a hushed whisper to Teo. "Do you think we could pet him?"

Teo blinked and shrugged slowly. "I don't know." He said softly. "How did he become a kitty?"

Rei sighed and showed her the devided meat. "We've got enough for tomorrow and breakfast." He said softly, his large ears falling back. He scratched his mane on the back of his head. "Doesn't this just beat all?" He twisted his mouth. "If we don't get more food soon, we're not going to live through winter."

Brin thought for a moment. "I don't know," she said quietly. "Should we ask?"

Ally stood still for a moment, and nodded slowly. "What... should we do?" she asked quietly.

Rei sighed. "Well, we have two new mouths to feed, so. I guess we...have to go back on that promise." He regretted saying. The promise was no more theivery---they'd hunt for their own food--but now, it just seemed like they had no other choice. "Maybe the kids could help us too. People would give handouts to cute kids, you know. And we can sneak around at night and steal from the houses."

Teo nodded and smiled. "Yeah. That sounds like fun." He added lightly. "How old are you anyway?"

Brin grinned at him and held up her hands with the number. "Seven," she said with a nod. "What about you?"

Ally nodded slowly. That was what she had been doing before Rei had found her. "We could do that," she said quietly. "We could start tonight..."

Rei nodded slowly and sighed. He pulled Ally into a hug. "I'm sorry." He murmured.
To Rei, he just felt like he owed them all somthing. Like it was his responsibility to take care of everyone, and he was failing.
"For now let's just fill the kids bellies and put them to bed.

"Nine." Teo said smiled. "We're only two years apart." He grinned and scooted closer. "Do you have parents?"

Ally blinked at the hug, but nodded. She gently hugged him back and pulled away with a small smile. "There's that room upstairs with all the beds in it..." she said quietly. "I wonder if the people that lived here really had that many kids..."

Brin looked down and slowly shook her head. "They... fell asleep and wouldn't get up," she said quietly.

Rei shrugged. "Well, let's try not to aspire to fill all of them." He chuckled and flicked his tail. "Well, let me cook this meat and store the rest and how about you make sure the kids are comfortable."

Teo nodded slowly. "I never had any parents ever." He said softly with a shrug. "Do you remember them?"

Brin nodded slowly. "Some," she said quietly. She looked up at him though. "Never any? Really?"

Ally nodded, but she paused before walking away. "I heard him talking," she said softly. "But he stopped as soon as I came in..."

Rei nodded slowly. "I wonder why." He murmured. "Well, maybe it's a trust thing. We're just going to have to work on that."

Teo shook his head. "I don't remember having any." He siad. "I don't even remember the past nine years. I just feel nine years old." He leaned back and shrugged again.

Ally nodded and slipped away again, going back to the sitting room. She paused outside though, listening to what the kids were talking about for a moment.

Brin frowned, tilting her head as she looked at him. "What do you mean?" she asked. "How do you... feel that?"
