"Not as long as Maggie wants," David answered. "They told us we'd have to be out by sundown. They said no civilians past dark."
Dean chuckled a bit, glancing to Maggie. "That's not long enough for you?"
"You can't get a real story in just a few hours. I mean, think of how long it takes Hollywood to generate new movies."

Jack studied her for a bit. He didnt like movies. And especially not Hollywood. He looked to Dean. "Well, we won't...tell if you wanted to stay later. Get the full story."
Yes. That's totally within your authority....

Maggie laughed softly, shaking her head. "I wouldn't want you to get in trouble," she said quietly.
"Nope, she just does that to me," David joked.
Dean chuckled, although he shot Jack a confused look. That was... a little bold for him. But just then there was a man on a bullhorn calling all the press personal back to the trucks.
Maggie frowned. "That wasn't even--!" she started to protest.
David shook his head, gently pushing her back towards the trucks. "Come on... brat."
"So not fair! They jipped us!"

Jack frowned. "Well maybe we'll see eachother again." He offered slowly. "Or....not." He said slowly. He swallowed. He was breaking a bit under this situation. Losing concentration....
He was never good with people. He never wanted to be a leader. He was most comfortable as a medic, and with the human physical form then the psychological one.

Dean glanced at him again, but shrugged a bit, watching them walk away. "Come on, Mr. Uncomfortable."
Before they turned away, though, a small cloud of dust exploded just in front of David and Maggie. Maggie screamed a bit and fell back. A second shot came in, hitting David in the leg.
"Fuck!" Dean shouted. "Enemy fire! Everyone to stations!"

Jack rushed to Maggie and David, diving down. "Follow me! Follow me! Stay down! STAY DOWN!" He dragged David away, holding up his gun and firing a few shots. "MAGGIE! Grab my jacket! Hang on! DEAN!"

Dean quickly grabbed his gun and fired blinding in the direction the shots were coming from. He dove down besides Jack and quickly helped him drag David back to their tent, hidden behind a good barricade like everything else. All around them, their unit was grabbing weapons, trying to get visuals on the enemy.
Maggie stayed close to Jack and once they were in the tent, backed against the cot they put David on, more than a little terrified.

Jack panted. "Dean, I'll stay with David, try to keep him calm and stop the bleeding." He shouted. "Maggie! Get under the cot!" He pulled her roughly.

Dean nodded and ducked out of the tent again, grabbing another gun off his cot. He set up just outside, against their barricade, loading his sniper rifle and quickly using the scope to find where the shots had come from. "The dunes to the north. Everyone look live," he quickly reported through a radio.

Maggie went with the pull easily, not that her resisting would have done much. She was pretty much tiny all around. She curled up under the cot, an arm over her face, trying to hide how scared she was.
David lay on the bed, shaken up and sweating from the pain. He muttered curses under his breath a little.

"It's okay. Your were shot in the leg David. Can you hear me Dave?" He asked. He took his hand. "All right, Maggie give me your hand." He pulled eher hand to David's to hold so she was reaching out from under the bed. "Stay with eachother. You've got eachother right? We're going to get through this. Just concentrate on what I'm saying. Repeat what I'm saying in your head. Think." He said softly, tearing David's pant leg. "You're here, you're safe with me all right? You're with the most badass team you'll ever meet. You're very lucky." Jack said, inspecting the wound quickly in the fading light. He sighed and tore the pant leg used it to help stop the bleeding.

Maggie nodded, giving David's hand a squeeze. She kept her other arm over her head though, the gun shots scaring her.
David nodded, opening his eyes and looking at Jack. "I can't... ugh fuck. How the hell do you guys do this... all the time?"

Outside, Dean quickly took out anyone that poked his head out. But for some reason, it just wasn't enough. Their fire wasn't stopping. He wondered if they had a turret somewhere or people somewhere else that they couldn't see.

Jack laughed. "Good good, talk to me." He encouraged. "Just stay with me. The bullet missed the bone, that's good. That's a very good thing." He nodded. "We'll have to remove the bullet now...okay? You will feel pain, but not a lot. Ever have a tooth pulled David?" He pulled out his medkit, while putting a calming hand on Maggie's shoulder for a moment.

"Uh... yeah," David murmured. "While... ago."
Maggie shook her head a little, moving her arm and putting her free hand over her ear. She'd known... this was a possibility, coming out here, but that was why they'd picked this camp. Zero activity for three weeks. Seemed unlikely they'd get any today but... here they were.

Jack smirked. "Well." He began. "They say it getting a tooth pulled is worse than getting a bullet removed."
There was a small sting.
"Can you believe that? You should ask Dean when this is over. He's been shot five times? Yeah. It's not a big deal hmm? Especially since I just removed it." He held the small metal object up. "You can keep that if you want. It serves a good relic to attract the ladies with." He was trying to keep things light. Keep talking. Keep David distracted and out of shock. Getting shot was a horrifying experiance. "You're a tough guy, didn't even wince. How are you doing Maggie?" He asked next.

David smirked a bit and shrugged, slowly taking the bullet. He was kind of numb to the pain from the shock anyways.
Maggie shook her head again. "Just... get me when it's over." She was a little surprised as could manage that, honestly. She was trying to ignore that she was shaking, hating how scared she was.
