When her grandfather was finished cleaning, Eryn finally got to eat some. By then it was all cold, but she didn't complain. She helped her grandfather back upstairs and then returned to the dining room, starting to clean up.
But she looked over to Vander. "How do you know... he is in pain?" she whispered.

"I can sense it." Vander said softly. "He is a strong man though. You take good care of him."

Eryn frowned a little, studying him. "You said... you could help?" she whispered. "How?"

'I could heal him. It would take awhile, and steady treatment...his ailment is not something that can be cured. But I can make him feel a lot better. Enough to get out of bed by himself."

Eryn looked up at him, swallowing quietly. "You could at least take away the pain?" she whispered.

Vander nodded slowly. "Yes, I can do that much. I cannot take away the natural cause. People must pass. It is the way things are. Whether it is timely or untimely." He whispered. ''I can make him comfortable. I sense it will only get worse."

Eryn teared up a little at that, but slowly nodded. "Is there anyway... you could do it without him knowing?" she whispered.

'Perhaps when he was sleeping." He told her. "But to use my powers is to become visible." He explained.

Eryn nodded, slowly going back to washing the dishes from breakfast. She licked her lips and looked at him again. "What would it cost?" she whispered.

Vander frowned. "It is not your deal." He whispered softly. "So nothing." He shrugged a bit.

Eryn frowned a little. "But... he won't have any way to pay you," she whispered. "Especially if he doesn't know it's happening."

Vander glanced. "It is not his deal either." He said slowly. "You are not asking this selfishly. There is no deal to be made. I offered to help. You accepted. Nothing is owed if it does not involve the Master's self interest."

Eryn stared at him for a moment. But then she dropped what she was doing and moved over to him, hugging him quickly. "Thank you,' she whispered.

Vander looked surprised. He stood there, unsure of what to do. He moved a hand to her arm though, generally liking it.

Eryn swallowed quietly and slowly stepped back. She smiled a little up at him. "You're amazing," she whispered.
