Eryn swallowed, but slowly nodded. "For saving me," she whispered. "You just... want me to... get the amulet out of the tree?"

"I believe I was lost and forgotten over 600 years ago. I am here to provide my service to the summoners, not sit bound to a tree trunk." Vander said slowly. "And then you will have paid your debt."

Eryn nodded a little and moved over to the tree again. She started peeling back the bark but her hands where shaking. She managed to snap the bark off, but cut the palm of her hand on the wood. She bit her lip, trying to hold back any outward expression of pain, then stubbornly wiped her cheek with the back of her hand before finally managing to get the thing out of the wood.

Vander studied her. He moved over and put a gentle hand on her injured one. He healed her easily without a word spoken. He looked to her, expressionless. "For that you will take the amulet with you." He told her.

Eryn stared down at her hand for a moment before looking up at him. "Thank you," she whispered. She quickly wiped her eyes again, trying to get rid of the tears.

"Why do you weep?" He asked softly. "That man was going to hurt you. Possibly kill you." He cocked his head. "He does not deserve your tears."

Eryn swallowed quietly, looking at him again. "I was... scared," she answered quietly. She licked her lips and glanced around in the dark, hugging her arms around herself again, the amulet in one hand. It was getting cold in the dense forest and dark night.
"I am scared," she corrected herself, whispering. "He had... friends with him. And... and I don't know which way is out of this place... and you. You just... appear... out of no where and... Don't get me wrong, I'm really grateful you did but... how did you even... do that?"

Vander tried to follow what she was saying as best he could, nodding along. "I am bound to that amulet." He said slowly. "Those who know my name may summon me to your plane. My name is long forgotten, so I told you." He explained. "You must not tell others unless you plan to abandon the amulet all together." He told her. "I am yours to command so long as you hand the amulet, but not to be traded around like a novelty."

Eryn stared at him for a moment, before looking down at the amulet again. She frowned a little. "Command?" she whispered, as if she didn't like the sound of the word.

Vander nodded slowly, looking at her confused. "I require compensation. It is proof of our relationship and a sign of respect. Back when the plane-called...were respected and not abused."

Eryn frowned a little, but slowly nodded, glancing to the amulet yet again. "Do you know the... way out of this forest?" she whispered after a long moment.

"I do." Vander said softly. "I sense others in the forest. Some with ill intent. Others...as frightened as you are. Worried. But safe. They call for you." He told her.

Eryn managed a small smile at that. "Can you help me find them?" she whispered. "I was... with my friends when we were attacked..."

Vander nodded slowly. "I will help you get back to them. But what is your offer in return?"
It took awhile before new master's got a hang of this. Learning that an offering was a default.

Eryn frowned a little, thinking. "What is it that... plane-called want?" she asked softly.
