Preparations
by Amun the Self-Existant on Thu, 31 May 2012 04:17

Amun's birth was a fabled one. The legends told that he was a prince of the virgin queen before she lay with the Pharaoh on their wedding night. When the Pharaoh noticed that he had the talent of the divine, and was not of his blood, he sent him to become a Priest in the high court. There he became a physical symbol of the god Horus, as it was believed that Horus had granted the queen Amun.

Amun drifted through the high court, his body painted with gold and black. He wore the headdress of Horus, and rarely did anyone see his face. He was a muscular man, and his shoulders were broad and worked, as they had to hold the weight of his mask, that covered his entire head. Today he moved to the ritual room, overseeing some preparations for his burial. He had been working on his tomb since his corrination, readying for the afterlife when it would come. These preparations took decades. It was better to start early.

But there was a certain buzz in the air, and in him as well. There had been rumors that a wife would be granted to him soon. He had been steeled with his mortal pleasures, and had not yet taken a wife. Perhaps in the week to come, that would change. He walked out into the main court, waiting for the meeting of his potential bride. He beauty had been spoken of, but he had to wait and see.

Kiya spent the morning in the lower levels of the palace, being scrubbed and oiled and dressed, prepped for her presentation to the priest. She was quiet, and mostly kept her eyes on the tiled floor, nervous. She had never met this man... only heard rumors of him and he was... imposing by all accounts.
Kiya was a beautiful young woman though, and everyone said he would accept her immediately. She was striking, and easily caught every one's eye, although that was easy to blame on her hair. She had been born as the second twin, a rare case on its own, but apparently there had been some complications and through it all, somehow her hair grew the most brilliant, pale white.
Since her sister had been groomed to wed a pharoh, Kiya had rarely seen her sister since their childhood, the younger sister left on her own a bit more. Her mother called her wild, but she passively let the servants ready her... Maybe the shock of it had stilled her wildness. She didn't know. But the idea of marrying someone she had never even seen... even if it was accepted by her people she had thought... maybe she'd at least get to know the man first.
Kiya sighed a little as the servants finished getting her ready, and looked out the small, shaded window. For a brief moment, she thought, I could fit through there... She shook her head a little to herself though and focused as one of her father's advisers looked her over. He smiled at her, but didn't say much, then led her out of the room, into the large court room.
Kiya walked with her head bent, her hands clasped together in front of her. She wore an elegant, but simple dress the dragged along the floor around her feet, white with blue along the edges, golden clasps holding it together. She wore no jewelry, and simple sandals that wrapped around her calves under her dress.
She bowed a little as the adviser stopped her before the priest, and as he introduced her, she glanced at the man a little nervously. She did her best not to frown when she saw the mask. Not fair...

Amun studied her for a bit and waved to the guards to close off the hall. There was a pool in the middle of the ornate hall, and it opened up to see over the entire kingdom. The breeze filtered in nicely, but sweat glistened off the gold and black paint on Amun's chest. He approached her, walking delecately around the pool, bare -footed. He was wearing a white skirt, and jewelry but not much else. He paused in front of her and slipped a large hand through her hair. "What do they call you?"

Kiya swallowed quietly, nervous, but doing her best to hide it. "Kiya," she answered softly. She was a little worried that he'd shooed everyone away...

Amun smiled under his mask. "You are the most beautiful of beautifuls, Princess." He took off his helmet slowly. He was quite a handsome smooth faced man, and his head was shaved. Make of the priests had no body hair at all. He knelt in from of her and took her hands, dipping his head in respect and worship. "You are of the gods themselves."

Kiya blushed a little at that, shaking her head. "You are... too kind, sir," she whispered. She knew it was shallow of her but at least he was handsome... Even if he was cruel or uncaring... he was hideous, or wouldn't crush her when he... She swallowed, trying not to think of that more.

Amun stood and smiled, taking her hands. "Amun." He whispered. He seemed excited, giddy, almost. He he pushed himself closer. "Do I please you?"

Kiya blinked. She had definitely not expected that question. She stared at him for a moment but then blinked again, shaking herself out of her silence. "Yes," she answered quietly, although she she really couldn't say anything other than that.

Amun grinned a little and pressed his lips to hers, rubbing his large hands up her arms. He sensed her nerves, and for some reason he wanted to absolve her of this. Not to mention he had been contained for so long.
Not that he hadn't partaken in humanly pleasures---he just hadn't gotten to do so often.

Kiya blinked again at that, but closed her eyes, unsure of how she was feeling... Nervous, frightened... but... exhilarated... the unexpected kiss made her heart race. Maybe... this wouldn't be so bad...

Amun pulled back and grinned. "We should wed." he whispered. "Tomorrow. I cannot wait another burning day without you." He managed.

Kiya let out a quiet breath, managing a small smile. "Tomorrow?" she whispered. "That is so... soon." She licked her lips, feeling her heart race even faster, and took another breath. But she remembered her place and slowly nodded. "But... of course," she added quietly, almost breathlessly. "Whatever you desire, my lord..."

Amun smiled a little and nodded. "It is for the best. Come, let us announce it to the others." He grinned. "We cannot delay."

Kiya nodded a little, but she felt dizzy. This was all happening too fast... But she let him lead her from the room and into the main court. Everything was mostly a blur and she had to focus on breathing, not having a panic attack. She wished there was someone here she even... recognized... something to take comfort in...

Amun was pulled from her off to work after three hours of relishing in his fiance. He loved this, excited to have a wife, a legacy. And she was the most gorgeous of all.
Jayyu, a handmaiden and friend of Kiya, moved over after they were pulled a part. She smiled at her. She wasn't exactly pretty, but she had her husband in a scribe, and three children. She was barely older than Kiya.
"I heard the news."
