Uncer chewed on some rations and followed her from behind. He had his horses head pulled down a little, and he was talking to her in her ear, petting her nose.

Ellaria walked along calmly, enjoying the feel of the tall grass as it brushed against her legs. She liked the plains, open and empty. They were calming.

Uncer caught up with her. "You were saying that the king never accepted the contracts of outsiders." He said. "What if you put in a good word?"

Ellaria smiled a little. "I do not think it would happen, Uncer," she said quietly. "Humans are not even allowed into the High Forest. Without me, the forest would kill you."

Uncer frowned. "Like the stories." He said softly. He looked to her. "So..." He frowned. "We part ways there?"

Ellaria sighed. "Weren't you listening?" she asked. "Without me you would die. That means with me, you're fine Uncer. Relax will you?"

Uncer frowned a little, he felt chided like a child, but for some reason, he craved that. "Yes, okay." He said softly. He stared after her though, wondering why he was so submissive around her.

Ellaria walked on calmly. "Why are you so eager to kill anyways?" she asked softly.

Uncer glanced over. "I'm good at it." He said softly. he glanced over. "Why do you?"

"It is what I do," Ellaria answered calmly. "But I think you should find something different."

Uncer glanced over. "Okay, like what?" He asked slowly, curious. He was wondering why she wanted him to feel different about it...she killed people, why couldn't he? It felt good...

Ellaria shrugged. "You seem like a good hunter," she said calmly.

"I am." Uncer said softly. "It's what I do. But people....hunting them is better." He smirked at her. "Its more challenging."

Ellaria frowned at him. "And that is why you are not fitted to do what I do," she said firmly.

"I don't understand." He said slowly. "You kill people. No matter which way you slice it, you. kill. people. I'm just as fit to do it as you are." Uncer snapped.
