Long Flight
by Sam FisherPM Member on Sun, 26 June 2011 14:40

"Alright sweety, I'll call you when I get there. I love you too. Be safe. Bye."
Sam said easily, hanging up his new blackberry phone. He sighed and tried to press a button to lock it, but it brought up his email instead.
"No." He whispered to himself in frustration.
"Now loading section B"
Sam looked up and quickly grabbed his bags, trying to figure out the damned thing on the way to line up. He grumbled to himself and finally hit the right button and shoving the thing into his pocket. He handed his ticket over easily and then got onto the plane. He found his seat and grumbled even more. Lambert must have been too cheap because he had been stuck in coach. And in the window seat.
Great.
Sam hated anywhere that he didn't have easy access too. Stepping over laps was not something he was looking forward to if he had to take a piss.
He stored his luggage up ahead but made sure he got his book, laptop and notepad out. It was going to be a long flight.

Annika had waited patiently as the rows were called, glancing down at her ticket for a long time and not really making eye contact with anyone. Once her row was called though she lifted her bags and stood up. She wore black skinny jeans with shorter, leather boots as well as a tank top and sweatshirt over that. Her hair was loose and long as she walked through the gate and into the plane. Even as she walked through the plane she didn't really make eye contact with people until she found her seat.... Middle Dammit She pushed her bag up and into the overhead. "Excuse me." She said to the man in the aisle, a larger business man, obviously displeased with being in coach. The man smirked up at Annika and moved his legs aside as she pushed to the middle bettween him and the other man. She glanced to the man by the window as she searched for her seatbelt.

Sam glanced over as well and looked her up quickly. She was younger; his guess was maybe mid or later twenties. And she wasn't wearing much, which surprised him. It got cold on these planes.
He wasn't wearing anything fancy himself. Just a lighter olive green sweater that had a useless zipper by the neck and some khakis. He had rolled up the sleeves to the weater reveiling his swarthy complection on his arms. His black hair was wirey and had hints of grey in it, and hey green eyes were thin and sharp. He sighed and moved his arm a little, giving the woman more space to find her seatbelt.

Annika started to search for her seatbelt, but she sighed. "Um... you're sitting on my seatbelt." She said to Sam, looking up at him.

Sam looked down and frowned, pulling the seatbelt from underneith him and pushing it over. "So that explains that itch." He joked, but his tone was off. It was much too dry, and had the potential for being taken seriously.

Annika looked up at him and then slowly she smiled, chuckling. "If you need it back I'd be happy to oblige... after the captain turns off the fasten seatbelt sign." She said, mocking the tone the flight attendents had. She had just a hint of a Russian accent.

"No, no, I should probably decline. People have told me I have enough up my ass already." He quipped. He turned to his book though. It was about Russia, and there was another small one on the language. He needed severe brushing up, and he figured the flight would be a good opportunity.

Annika chuckled softly and settled into her seat as well. She glanced around and then back to her own bag. She could listen to her ipod.. really do anything, but she glanced back to the man at the window. "Is this your first time to Russia?" She asked him.

Ah shit... He thought to himself. He could tell the truth and say no, but that would lead to more lies about why, where, how, when. He could lie and say yes, and have her ramble on about how she either related, or, how she was from there---which he suspected.
He'd rather she talk then have to talk himself.
"Yes, actually." Sam said slowly, looking to her.
Either choice, there would be lying involved.

Annika nodded. "They lie in those books." She said quietly, motioning toward the travel book. "The ones that I've read anyways."

Sam glanced over and frowned. "Do they really?" He asked slowly. He hadn't realized that, actually. Somethings were hit and miss, but Sam had always been a book fiend when it came to history and geography.

Annika nodded. "Though there are some things that are true... Borsht really is a staple and you should never challenge a Russian to a drinking game." She smiled a little bit at him, seeing that what she had said sort of threw him off.

"I wouldn't dream of doing that." He said simply. He looked down to his book though. He had been to some areas of Russia before, and all of the books were impossibly vague. He was feeling similarly unstimulated by the book Lambert had given him, and now after being told most of it might be a lie, the words fell flat on the page.
Great...frees up more time to practice my Russian he thought drly. It had been awhile...
He pulled out the small language book and started taking notes in his note pad on that instead.

Annika sat back and as the plane started to get ready to take off a flight attendant came over. "Sir, you're going to have to put that away until after we've taken off." She said. Annika glanced over to Sam and then back down at her own book.

Sam sighed and tucked his materials away in the front pocket. He was irratated. He knew they had plenty of time to kill, but he wanted to get into the swing of things. Besides this plane ride, he had a night in a hotel room and then that was it. Spy time.
He leaned back as far as he could, which wasn't a lot. He would forever curse Lambert for not getting first class....
