RE: Long Flight

Annika sighed as the plane started to taxi. She licked her lips nervously as the captain told the flight attendants to prepare for take off. Then the plane started to go fast... and faster until the nose lifted. Anni held onto the arms of her seat tightly and closed her eyes. As the plane adjusted to being in the air and dropped just a bit she inahled sharply.

Sam frowned and looked over. He nudged her a little. "So I'm curious now. What has been the some of the lies you've read?" He asked, trying to distract her. He felt bad for the people who were nervous of flying. Being afraid of something you couldn't control...

Annika let out a slow breath and opened her eyes, looking over to him. "Um..." She licked her lips, trying not to think of the take off. "They tell you that when you bargain with a street veder to start at %75, but you always should start at %50. Also... don't ever tell a Russian that your mother's anything is better... Russians love their moms."

Sam laughed a little at that last part. "Interesting." He said slowly. "So it would be an insult to say that my mother made the best borsch soup?" He asked with some humor.

Annika looked over to him seriously. "A Russian wouldn't hesitate to tie you to a chair naked and kick you in the balls till you cry." She said and then laughed a little, knowing that that was somewhat of a joke.

Sam laughed a little. That luckily, had never happened to him...yet. He wasn't foriegn to torture, and he could take it, but it really....really wasn't anything he'd ever want to have to do.
He shook his head. "Dully noted."
By then though the plane and leveled out nicely and was flying smoothly.

Annika slowly let her grip loosen from the arm hold and she took a deep breath, glancing over to him. "Thank you." She said, knowing he had distracted her. "This is only my second time flying."

Sam nodded slowly. "I wish I could say the same." He admitted slowly. He offered a hand to her. "Sam Fisher." He said.
Unlike the movies and all, there was really no need for psuedo-names. His spy self was nameless and no one ever saw him. So if he met the man earlier that day, introduced himself as Sam Fisher, it would not be the same 'Sam Fisher' that infiltrated his cooporation that night.

She took his hand and smiled a little bit. "Annika Kuznetsov." She said back to him and shook his hand, then let go slowly. "So you travel often then Mr. Fisher?"

"Unfortunetly yes." He said slowly. "I'm a salesmen." He shrugged a little and unbuckled himself, now that they were in the air and it was nonessential. He pulled his language book and notebook out again.

Annika smiled at the language book. "You know... I could help you with that if you like. Some of those phrases might get you laughed at."

Sam smirked. "I speak well-enough Russian. One of the first languages I learned actually. It's just....been awhile since I've had to speak it."
And that was true. See? Somethings he didn't even have to lie about. That's what made a spy, an even better spy. Stick with what you know. Be genuine.

"Then we will speak in Russian for the flight? Annika asked with a smile, looking over to him.

Sam hestitated a little.
Alright...so he had been looking forward to this quiet 18 hour long plane ride to study, prepare, and sleep.
But now he found out that his book was probably full of bullshit, and what better way to prepare then to practice with someone knowledgable? He decided to jump on that opportunetly. It wasn't usually his way, but it was probably better.
"Sounds good to me. Better to practice, I suppose." He said in better russian then he had thought he would speak. He always seemed to surprise himself with that.

Annika actually grinned at that. "Exactly my point. May I ask why you are traveling to Russia?" She asked him, sitting back in her chair.
