RE: The Drider Without a Past by Zarae Zyne Kilanatlar on Wed, 13 Oct 2010 10:27Zarae tried to hide the smile at the exaggerated movements of the male drow. deep down she believed in equality of the genders, yet she had to pretend otherwise at the moment for survival, pretend to be a faithful slave to the spider queen. and she didnt doubt he only did such shows out of survival also. for only the highest ranking males were somewhat truthful; and that was generally because they were in a place of power- as much as a male could ever be anyway. the sense of whoever closed in twords them as in am ambush. ((whats a good underdark creature to have in the tunnel?)) |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Crizzt Do'Zarden on Wed, 13 Oct 2010 14:36 Crizzt yawned as he slowed down a bit and then shooked his head to get rid of any sleepness creeping up on him due having very little rest during the last pass hours. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Zesstra Matheld'de on Fri, 15 Oct 2010 18:04((Good underdark creature...beholder, hook horror, grimlock, quaggoth, deep dragon, burrowing critter gone wrong...)) Zesstra paused abruptly. "Do you hear that?" she asked, turning her head a little. She could have sworn there was some familiar sound ahead... |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Sauron Mabievarn on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 00:27"Sounds like a bad old critter to me " Sauron replied to the drow priestess and armed his crossbow and waited. His breathing calm for mad man Sauron made a small ball of light and sent it floating towards the noise unsure of what it might reveal. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Zarae Zyne Kilanatlar on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 04:50the rogue hissed out at the wizard for the light, "that was stupid," and quickly threw a globe of darkness over them and the light. then she went silent. light was deadly in the Underdark- a large sign of 'come get me.' the creature a good distance down the tunnel, blind, but it's exceptional sense of smell and hearing noticed the group down the tunnel. the humanoid creatures had scarred scaled, gray skin.the most striking feature was the complete absence of eyes or eye sockets. Blank skin stretched across the upper face, giving it a shadowed, masked visage. he was bout the height of the group, 5'6 and close to 160 lbs. the beast turned to them, rage on his visage, rush to the attack, brandishing his stone battleaxe. ( http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/grimlock.htm ) the rogue drew a poisoned blade and readied as she heard it coming twords them. then in the darkness she vanished from sight and began moving to flank the charging beast. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Crizzt Do'Zarden on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 07:41 When the globe of darkness covered over them and the light, Crizzt heard the Grimlock charging and knowing his arms are full from holding the still unconscious former Priestess of Eilistraee, he has no choice, but to move him-self closer towards the back of the group. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Zesstra Matheld'de on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 11:00Zesstra simply moved to the side of the corridor, letting Zeb and the wizard take on the thing from the front. Zarae had a good idea. The psion distracted it to create an opening, whispering lies and maddening insults into the creature's mind, making it sound like they were coming from various angles, always aiming for maximum sting. She wanted it so angry it didn't even realize Zarae was there. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Namless on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 12:36A sound... Sounds in the darkness... Prey. How long had it been since she last hunted? What was it? She looked down in the small cave she now called home. One of her long legs stretched out and hooked the skull that lay on the cave floor. She lifted it to her hands and opened her eyes, "foul creature," she said in the drow tongue. The words came out as a remnant of a whisper and they seemed so foreign. When had been the last time she spoke to another being? Since before her memory... how far back could she remember now? A week? A month? It didn't matter. It all blended together anyway. Back to what was important... prey. Perhaps this would be better than the last goblins left such an awful taste in one's mouth. She scooped up a few bags and hung them from the spider silk net that hung over her abdomen and slid out of the cave with serene deadly silence. The old drider moved like shadow as she silently readied one of the drow crossbows on her arm and lifted a short spear she had recovered from the corpse of that goblin... and his friends. A sinister grin stretched across her still statuesque ebon face remembering the encounter. She lowered some to appear of normal drow height so one would see the torso would appear that of a Priestess of Lloth, unclothed as she might be since clothes were irrelevant in her current state, down to her waist where there was still a beautifully web decorated belt with a spider clasp. What might be more of a shock was she still had the whip, a symbol any would recognize, with its multiple snake heads. She approached down a connecting tunnel that would be easily missed if one wasn't looking for it. Exiting she began to stalk up from the rear of the assaulting creature. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Zarae Zyne Kilanatlar on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 13:13as the rogue moved thru the shadows unseen she sensed another being. the light, she reasoned had infact attracted company. the beast was going even madder, moving insanely fast however. it passed by her and continued for the others in the dark globe. 'perfect' she thought. until the sense of the other was behind her now. keeping her back against the tunnel, the only way she could be seen was with a true seeing spell (im hidden in plain sight). she was prepared to throw the blade, yet she hesitated. the possible threat from the hidden creature might be worse. besides, grimlocks werent too hard. sound.sonic spells would weaken it and she didnt doubt they could take it down. if not the poisoned blade could be thrown and slow the beast down. so Zarae moved with the cavern wall twords the other, listening for sounds and watching for its heat signature. a sense of evil was closer, an evil that she remembered well from her own family- Lloth. she slowed her breath down, making her mind sharper and her focus clearer, dagger still at the ready. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Zesstra Matheld'de on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 13:18Zesstra sensed the presence as well, though the mind was hard to identify. Too chaotic, but definitely not friendly. A gnawing hunger in the darkness. She reached out and projected a message onto the surface of Zarae's mind: You have dangerous company. Be wary. The psibond agent didn't move yet, aiming to keep herself hidden or at least out of the thick of combat for as long as possible. She much preferred battle by proxy, considering her only physical weapon was a slim stiletto and she couldn't see to tell where a friend's body ended and an enemy's began. Of course, her mind worked just as well in close. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Crizzt Do'Zarden on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 13:25 Crizzt moved to the side silently once he had moved back far enough using his spider feet to feel his way within the globe of darkness and to find a safe spot to put the still unconscious former Priestess of Eilistraee down. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Namless on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 14:02As she approached her sencesbecame keenly aware of others besides her prey. Sweeter than what she hunted... But far more dangerous. Then stopped. Someone was near. Perhaps just behind her. She glanced back and reached into one of the bags hanging from the net. What she retrieved was an amulet, detailed beyond belief, the head of a spide. It looked as if it might start gnawing at the wearer any moment. The many eyes fickered and then she was able to see all about, except to a line of complete and true darkness "Drow," she thought. The amulet would allow her to see in every direction. But there was no one there. The heads of her whip lifted and reached in the direction of the concealed drowess. She stopped and glanced back and shushed her whip back down. She inhaled and smirked. Her hands flickered in a broken form of hand speech, "drowess... show self... after the beast," it had been so long, hadn't it? Despite her hunger she had long ago sworn off what she had once been. That much she remembered. |

RE: The Drider Without a Past by Sauron Mabievarn on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 17:16Sauron heard the thundering beast when the ball of light which he sent foward was snuffed out, he cursed as the momentary distraction made him miss the mark. He heard the bolt clatter away in the darkness and could barely dodge the axe, "Grimlock? Grimlock!" he thought and clicked his teeth as the axe swished pat him, backstepping he tried to make out in the darkness where the target could be, cursing that he could see as well as his companions. Closing his eyes he focused in his inner vision to see the auras that drows generate, pleased that his makeshift one was still working he noticed Crizzt and shouted "climb up and stay with the pristess like a spider on the ceiling!" the grimlock hearing his voice turned towards him and charged, Sauron lifted his bow which cracked and splintered as the axe hit it at full force, frowning he immediately retalited by a kick. The beast stumbled back momenteriy dazed giving time to Sauron to draw his mithral daggers, filled with adrenalin of his human body he charged shouting "Come on you monster." and launched himself to the grimlock. Having his first lefthand blow parried by the axe he lunged with his right hand. The blade made a deep laceration on the left hand and the grimlock roared and flaied wildly but was cut short by a kick in the face by Sauron (for he was nearly twice of height)." YOU THINK I AM JUST A NAMELESS HOMUCULUS HUH?" he shouted back and got entangled in combat again. Amongst the blows given and taken he had slight scratching of another more sinister presence in the back of his mind and hoped that his fake aura will conceal him. |
