Kacela grew up in a small forest called Moonwolf Glade, a place of wolves and shadows. Rumors of werewolves kept most curious elves and humans away, and the small community of Lythari thrived within. Lythari are kind-hearted and peaceful lycanthropes who tend to abhor violence and love singing and raising children. Her mother was a born Lythari, while her father was a moon elf who chose the life of a Lythari so he could be with his beloved. Her eyes are moon elf eyes, but otherwise she looks like an ordinary Lythari. When Kacela was a young child of 20 years, her family was attacked by werewolves and worgs, who hate Lythari and cannot stand to be anywhere near them. Kacela managed to climb a tree and a survived unharmed, but each member of her family was either killed outright or mortally wounded. Her father managed to drive the last of the evil wolves away before he dropped dead from his injuries. At such a young age, Kacela could not shift –Lythari do not gain that ability until around 25 or 30- and risked starving to death, unarmed and unable to hunt in the manner of her people. She survived on roots and berries until winter, when the snow threatened to kill her unless she could find meat. She found the corpse of a young adventurer, slain by a rockfall, and took his swords, though the blades were broken off at the hilts and she had no idea how to use them. Using ice magic, which she had a talent for, she created her ice pendant and the ice blades for her two swords. She also took the men’s magic cloak, which helped keep her warm and hidden. Somehow, she survived the next five years, until she managed to shift into a wolf.
By this time, she had hardened her heart, and she taught herself how to use her swords and defended her home against worgs, which continued to haunt the shadows of Moonwolf Glade. She spent forty years in this manner, alone with the animals of the forest and the corpses of her family.
